Packing

We pack your goods so they arrive in the condition they left in.

What it is

Packing, in plain terms

Packing is about protecting the goods themselves: the right carton or crate, cushioning inside, proper sealing, and clear marks and labels outside. Air cargo is stacked, moved by machine and handled several times, so packing that is fine for a van is often not enough for a flight.

Good packing also keeps the size down. Because air freight is charged on the greater of weight and volume, a carton that is larger than it needs to be costs more to fly.

When you need it

When goods are not already export-packed, when they are fragile or awkwardly shaped, or when you want the packing done by the people who will hand the cargo to the airline.

What we do

How we handle it

  1. Choose packing suited to the goods and the journey

  2. Pack, cushion and seal each piece

  3. Mark and label: addresses and handling labels

  4. Record the piece count, weights and dimensions

Questions

Common questions

Can I pack the goods myself?

Yes. Packing must be strong enough for stacking and handling, sealed, and clearly labelled. An airline can refuse cargo that is poorly packed.

Can you pack dangerous goods?

Dangerous goods need specific packaging, marking and documents under IATA rules, and must always be declared. Tell us before you book if your goods may be dangerous goods.
