FAQ

Common questions

General answers to what people ask us most. Every shipment is different, so ask us about yours.

What documents do I need to send cargo by air?

Most export shipments need a commercial invoice, a packing list and an air waybill. We prepare the air waybill from your details. Depending on the goods and the destination, you may also need export permits, licences or certificates. Tell us what you are sending and we will tell you what applies.

What can I not send?

Some goods are forbidden on aircraft, some are restricted, and some are prohibited by Sri Lankan law or by the destination country. Dangerous goods must always be declared. See our prohibited and dangerous goods notice.

How are air freight charges calculated?

Airlines charge on chargeable weight: the greater of the actual gross weight and the volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is commonly worked out as length x width x height in centimetres, divided by 6,000, for each piece. Surcharges, handling and documentation fees may be added. Your quote sets out each charge.

What is a cut-off time?

It is the latest time an airline will accept cargo for a particular flight. It varies by airline, flight and type of goods. We give you a delivery deadline for your cargo and documents when we confirm your booking.

How should I pack my goods?

Use strong cartons or crates that can be stacked, cushion the contents, seal every opening and label each piece with the consignee's name and address. Airlines can refuse cargo that is poorly packed. If you would rather we did it, see Packing and Palletizing.

How do I get a quote, and how quickly will I hear back?

Fill in the quote form, or message us on WhatsApp. We reply by email or phone.

Do you handle imports as well as exports?

Yes. We arrange inbound air freight and help with clearance on arrival. See Import Bookings and Import Clearance.

Can you collect cargo from my premises?

We arrange road transport for collections and deliveries. Tell us the address and we will confirm whether we can cover it.

Is my cargo insured?

An airline's liability for cargo is limited under international conventions and its conditions of carriage, and is usually far below the value of the goods. Cargo insurance is separate. Ask us about cover when you request a quote.

How do I pay?

Payment methods and terms are set out in your quote. If you have a question about payment, ask us before you confirm the booking.

Where are you, and when are you open?

174/1/A, Weatheawa Road, Amandoluwa, Seeduwa, Sri Lanka, around 5 to 10 minutes by road from Bandaranaike International Airport. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
